Sony have announced a new firmware update for the A65 and A77 (the few that are out there following the flooding in Thailand). The new 1.04 version adds two new lenses to the lens correction done in camera and also is said to improve speed and performance generally. You can find the update here on the Sony South Africa site and here on the USA site. There is a tutorial on how to upgrade an Alpha’s firmware over at Alpha Tutorials.

Canon LogoThe Canon EOS 7D was announced on the 1st September 2009 and today, just over three months since it was announced DPReview has reported the release of the much anticipated second firmware update for the new dual purpose (video and stills) beast. Does something sound all to Microsoftish about this camera? Release first and fix later.

One must wonder how many of those first batch buyers are pulling their hair out at this point… hey maybe I should ask my uncle-in-law who bought one two weeks ago.

In Canon’s defence though, at least it has not taken them to long to fix the issues reported after the first firmware update.
