Sony SLT-A77 Advert

I am going to be honest with you here, I haven’t cheated the full story behind this video but I am sharing it for two reasons. First, it was produced on the Pentax K-5 which in a DSLR video world almost dominated by Canon is a nice change. Second, it got me asking, to what extent are you and I prepared to sacrifice for our photographic passion. Check it out and you will see what I mean.

Somehow we missed this one when it was announced. Olympus released two new compact cameras recently, in the Tough range was the TG-810 which is crush proof, waterproof, etc and has a GPS. Of more particular interest for me is the new SZ-30MR which shows the face of the future for cameras that do still and video. The SZ-30MR is capable of not only capturing 1080p Video but also 16MP still images simultaneously. Check out the full press release when you read on.

Sometimes I wish I was a kid again, that said its great to have a little boy so that I now have an excuse for buying something like this Hot Wheels Video Race. That’s right, a classic childhood toy just got a video camera under its hood which can shoot 12mins of action packed racking. Finally a boy toy to compete with video Barbie.

The cherry on top is the remote control for stopping and starting the recording. It can attach to a

You read that right, it is the battles of Barbie (with built in video camera) vs. Canon’s EOS 7D for the crown off non traditional video camera of choice. Seriously though, this is just a fun video clipped that I spotted up on the Afripixel site over the weekend and its just too good not to share. Enjoy.

Canon 7D vs. Barbie Video Girl from Brandon Bloch on Vimeo.

A comparison between my two new cameras: The $1,800 Canon 7D versus the brand new $50 Barbie Video Girl… available in the girlie aisle of your local Toys R Us. It’s the sassiest camera money can buy.

This is also a spoof of another video that compared the Canon 7D and iPhone 4: “iPhone 4 as good as the 7D? No, but it’s amazing for what it is.” http://vimeo.com/12925855
